Floating Dock on Karya Island Operated

The floating dock in front of the entrance to the Karya Island Public Cemetery (TPU), North Seribu Islands has been operating.

Seribu Islands Transportation Sub-agency Head, Leo Amstrong Manalu said the procurement of this floating dock facility is a follow-up to residents' requests. Considering, access to the burial site is difficult when the sea water is receding.
Cilincing Floating Dock Construction CompletedThus far, to reach the cemetery, residents have to enter through the eastern part of Karya Island Port, which is about 100 meters from the TPU gate.
"Many requests from residents to build a pier in front of the TPU gate. We also immediately prepared a floating dock to make the activities of residents easier," he expressed, Friday (8/18).
He explained the pier is made of polyethylene with a double layer type which has a load carrying capacity of up to 640 kilograms per square meter. The cube assembly that forms the dock will have 28 meters long and four meters wide.
"This dock was previously on Kelapa Island. We decided to relocate it, as seeing the needs on Karya Island was more useful," he said.
Panggang Island Urban Village Head, Muhammad Fakih Burhanudin expressed his gratitude to the Seribu Islands Transportation Sub-agency for moving quickly in following up on residents' requests. This assistance was very useful for residents when they want to make pilgrimages or when participating in funeral processions.
"We'll carry out maintenance on the floating dock, thus it can continue to function," he stated.
